Charleston, SC 29412 843-628-5021 tom@mrlowcountry.com General Accountant, Columbia, SC- 535 Reports Directly To: The Controller Job Summary: The General Accountant role is based in South Carolina at the Companies new state of the art manufacturing facility, which utilizes Lean manufacturing principles. ~$100MM+ Revenue, ~150 employees. The company is managed using Lean Manufacturing/Self-directed work team principles. The Financial Accountant is an active participant in the preparation and interpretation of financial data both for financial reporting as well as operational decision making. Supporting the Controller, this role will be engaged in process improvement efforts as well as support to other areas of business. Job Function: The Financial Accountant is an active participant in the preparation and interpretation of financial data both for financial reporting as well as operational decision making. Supporting the Controller, this role will be engaged in process improvement efforts as well as support to other areas of business. Primary Responsibilities: Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to accounting system. Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies and arranges approval for payment. Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment. Computes and records charges, refunds, costs of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals and similar items. Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account reconciliations and other related reports and reviews for accuracy. Extracts general ledger information. Compiles cost and revenue reports as well as balance sheets. Reconciles bank statements. Codes data for input to financial data processing system according company procedures. Actively involved in Inventory control processes such as inventory counts and post-count reconciliations. Provides support to operations with ad-hoc requests of information. Provide back-up support for various functions within the department. Participate in special projects as required. Education: Post –secondary diploma/degree in Accounting is required. Candidate must be committed to obtaining Accounting designation Advanced computer training in MS Office environment, most importantly Excel. Experience with computerized accounting systems such as JDE or SAP. Eager to learn and become a valuable member of the finance team. Need to be high energy looking to add value to the business as well as identify costs savings and continuous improvement opportunities. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
