Position Purpose: The Plant Supervisor accomplishes results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Supervises Hourly employees within the assigned area of responsibility, typically 10-35 employees. Directs, assigns, and supervises hourly employees in the performance of their day to day duties with full accountability for results in terms of Safety, Quality, Costs and quantity of production in an efficient environment. Analyzes production methods from a human factor standpoint to achieve optimal efficiency. Continually evaluates and develops employees to meet multi-skill and cross-training requirements. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Quality procedures Investigate and prepare reports on safety near-misses, accidents and hazards identification. Work closely with other production supervisors to ensure consistency Establishes priorities and encourages continuous improvement. Identifies needs and measures items that impact productivity. Ensures the collection and right reporting of performance KPIs; Communicates expectations to employees and evaluates performance. Communicates matters of importance with supervisor, peers, and others on the management team as necessary. Shares knowledge and ensures the transfer in the team; Principle Activities Directs, Supervises and Coordinates the day to day activities of hourly employees within their area of responsibility. Makes adjustments to workloads within their area in order to meet production schedules and quality requirements utilizing independent judgment, knowledge of personnel, material, processes and equipment. Initiates, recommends and implements continuous improvements through individual efforts and/or the utilization of available resources. Initiates or recommends personnel action including disciplinary steps, transfers, and releasing employees from service for the appropriate reasons. Continually evaluates and develops employees to meet standardized expectations. Responsibilities Manage department workflow to obtain optimum productivity. Read and communicate blueprints/drawings and BOM to department employees. Schedule and prioritize product flow for department and adjust as needed. Monitor jobs and determine prioritization. Continuously monitor production techniques as to improve product flow as well as properly utilizing resources while reducing scrap. Responsible for the quality requirements within their area of responsibility. Oversees the training activities for all employees assigned to their department. Ensures a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to the various safety regulations from company dictated, OSHA driven or insurance carrier mandated. Functions within a team atmosphere either as a member or team leader utilizing the appropriate interpersonal skills. Accountable for maintaining the level of housekeeping to company standards. Performs job duties in accordance with Code of Ethics to ensure the highest ethical dealings with employees, management, customers and suppliers. Financial/Risk Control Departmental Budget – Labor & Expenses. Must fulfill the financial control and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position. Skills and Knowledge Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills are needed to be successful in the position. Lean manufacturing experience highly preferred. A focus on details and processes are crucial. Efficient computer skills in MS Office applications are required. Delegation skills are essential skills to this position. Education: 4 year industrial engineering degree preferred Required Experience: 6-8 years of supervision in a Manufacturing environment. Will manage a lead MUST be bi-lingual Physical Requirements: Must be able to cross assembly lines, and get around equipment.
